Audrey at Two Weeks

Before Audrey was born I had planned to take all these wonderful photographs of her as a newborn. However now that she is here I find myself in a bit of a fog, and sometimes I completely forget to take any pictures at all!

Wednesday she was two weeks old, and my mom reminded me to take some pictures. I don't claim that these photos are beautifully artistic, as I had originally planned, but all things considered I think they are precious nonetheless.

Just check out these tiny toes!

A Week with Baby Audrey

Baby Audrey is now 8 days old, and I am happy to say that we have survived the first week! It is always the toughest, with so much sleep deprivation. I just keep telling myself that it will just keep getting better every day.

So here are some more pictures of our little girl to tide you over until I get back into the swing of things (like regular blog posting). Here is one of Audrey at 3 days old, laying in her cradle.

Here is baby Audrey being held by her brother Jonah. He is absolutely in LOVE with his little sister.

Check out her wide open eyes. What a cutie!

The boys are doing pretty well with their baby sister. Jonah is completely enamored and wants to hold her every chance he gets. It has been more of an adjustment for Eli, but he does tell us that he loves his little sister.

We all love her too and are so glad that she is part of our family!

Welcome Home Baby!

We are home from the hospital with our new baby girl. Mommy and baby are doing well.

She was a tiny one! She only weighed 5 lbs. 13 oz and was 17 inches long.

For now a picture will have to do, as we are busy figuring this whole baby thing out all over again. Isn't she gorgeous?

For the purposes of this blog, we will be calling her baby Audrey. Of coures that is not her real name (just like the boys aren't really Jonah and Eli), but it was on the list.

Let There Be Light: A $35 Gift Giveaway!

We have been doing quite a bit of remodeling in preparation for our new arrival. I am happy to say that the baby's room is all ready (good thing too, since she will be here tomorrow!). The accent wall is painted, the crib is set up, and the dresser is full of clean clothes. The baby's room even has a dimmer switch on the light so we don't have to be blinded during those middle of the night feedings. How convenient!

Now we just have one other lighting problem to take care of. We have a florescent light in our basement that is just obnoxious. It flickers and generally drives us crazy. Besides which, florescent lighting isn't exactly my favorite. Maybe after we have settled in with our new little one we can work on choosing a new kind of lighting for the basement. There are so many choices for lighting out there. Recessed lighting, pendant lighting, fans with lights, flush mount lights, chandeliers and on and on.
We would love to put in some recessed lighting in the basement that lights up the entire space, rather than just the part of the room with flourescent lighting.

So in celebration of our daughter and dim lights for late night feedings, I’m giving one of you a $35 gift certificate to any one of 200 CSN stores.  You can buy baby items, home decor, lighting, bedding, pots, pans, kitchen appliances….you choose!

To enter: Let me know what you would get with the gift card.

Waiting for Wednesday

Well, there is no baby girl at our house yet!

I really didn't want the baby to come until after Eli's birthday, which was Thursday. He had a great day playing with friends and family. I can't believe that my little boy is three!

Eli loved his cake and all the presents he got to open. I was impressed that I actually managed to get the cake made and the presents wrapped. Eli especially loved that "monster truck Mater" was on the top of his cake.

Now that Eli's birthday is over, this baby could come any time now. I will be 39 weeks tomorrow, and this is actually the longest I have ever been pregnant! They usually induce me early due to high blood pressure, but luckily I haven't had that problem this time. So my induction date is set for Wednesday. At least we know when the waiting will be over. That's a good thing because the waiting really is the hardest part!

Anticipation

We woke up this morning to a bit of the white stuff on our lawn and my flower beds. This is definitely not unusual for this time of year, but I felt bad for the crocuses and other flowers that are starting to poke through the dirt!

I have been so excited to watch my flowers start to come up! That means that Spring is on it's way here- Hooray!

Even more exciting is the fact that in just one week we will welcome our little daughter into our family! The nursery is ready, the crib is set up, the bouncy seat and carseat are ready, and the clothes are washed. We have diapers, wipes, binkies, etc. At this point I am actually feeling somewhat prepared, which is a pretty good feeling.

We have also been working to get the boys prepared for their sister's arrival. This weekend Honey Daddy moved the boys' car seats to their new positions and put the base for the baby's car seat in the van. Jonah was really excited to move to the back of the van, and Eli thought it was fun to be on the other side of the van.

Here's hoping that many of the changes to come can go as smoothly!

Operation Cooperation

To help the boys get ready for the arrival their little sister, I have been trying to get them to do more things by themselves and figure out how to help each other. This is doubly helpful for me since I am pretty tired at this point (less than two weeks to go!). The more things the boys can do for each other, means a little less for me to do. So last night when Daddy was working late I told Jonah to get his pajamas on and help Eli with his pj's.

It was the cutest thing to see Jonah help Eli with his buttons! I just had to grab my camera.

I love these boys! I love how well they have been getting along and playing together lately. Eli is more willing to let Jonah help him out (instead of just mommy) and they give me hope that even though having three kids will be hard, at least the two of them can help me out!

Fred the Snowman

I love Spring snowstorms in Utah! They are awesome because the boys get to play in the snow for a while and then it all melts away (wahoo!). A few days ago we woke up to find our grass and driveway covered with several inches of snow. The boys were so excited!

First they got to help Honey Daddy shovel the driveway.

What a great shoveling crew we have! Good thing too because at this point I am not much help.

Then the boys got to do something they have been waiting weeks to do! They got to build a snowman. Luckily Honey Daddy stayed home that morning so he could help the boys with their snowman. They each got to roll a snowball, which was so fun to watch. What a pair of cuties!

Then Daddy helped the boys put the snowman together, and I helped them put the face on our snowman. Isn't he cute?

The boys named our snowman Fred and instantly fell in love with him.

Imagine their dismay when Fred was over half melted just six hours later! Jonah actually got a bit teary-eyed and Eli told me that he was sad that Fred was melting and that "we will never see Fred again" with a sad little look on his face. I told him that we could see Fred whenever we wanted to because I took tons of pictures of him this morning. Way to go Mommy!
