Our Life in Pictures: Week 4

Day 22
January 22: It started to snow heavily around 10 p.m. and I told Honey Daddy that it looked really cool outside. He told me to go out and take a picture. I have never really tried to take pictures at night since getting my Canon XSi... apparently I should do it more often because I LOVE this photo! Can you believe this picture was taken at about 10:50 p.m.?!?!

Day 23

January 23: Our snowy night made for a cold, frosty morning! There was plenty of snow to shovel off the driveway and for the boys to play in.

Day 24
January 25: Went on a Sunday drive and took this nice picture of the sunset over Utah Lake.

Day 25
January 25: This is what happens when you ask Jonah to "make a silly face". It cracks me up!

Day 26
January 26: Lots more snow overnight. Though I don't love it, my boys do and it is fun to watch them play in the snow. Besides, they are so cute bundled up, right?

Day 27
January 27: The boys and I were having a challenging evening. I was trying to finish a cleaning project and cook dinner... and all Eli wanted was me. So there was quite a bit of clinging and whining. When I did get him to play with Jonah, there was a lot of screaming. It seems to be a new phase that drives me crazy! Did I mention that Honey Daddy got home late?

So Mommy had to take a time out after dinner. Later as I looked in on Eli asleep, I couldn't help but think how adorable he is. Trouble or not, I love this little guy.

Day 28
January 28: How can you not be happy each morning when this is the face that you wake up to?

Snow Buddies

I don't know about you, but we have had a lot of snow this past week! We got two really big snowstorms that left us with tons of white stuff!

Though I am not a big fan of snow, I know a couple of people who are!

Jonah and Eli were having a blast playing in the snow. We got out their sandbox toys from the storage shed and they had a blast while Honey Daddy and I shoveled our enormous driveway.

Eli was super cute because he would follow Jonah around and watch closely how he was playing with the tractors. Then he would do the exact same thing!

Then again, he also wanted to do just what Daddy was doing too.

What a cute little helper, huh?

Someday it will be nice to have my own little shoveling crew! The boys had a great time and I had fun running around taking pictures of everybody.

Here's somebody you don't see on my blog everyday (well, you do on the sidebar... but not often in the content!):

That's right, it's me! I got Honey Daddy to take my picture with the boys too. I often forget to have pictures taken with me in them and I'm going to try to do better at that this year. That way the boys will remember that I wasn't just behind the camera.

Minivan Mommy

So have you seen my new wheels?

Yep! I am now a minivan mommy.

What precipitated this change in transportation? No, I am not pregnant, thanks for asking!

Actually Honey Daddy's car was acting up and we figured it was on a slow decline... but what can you expect from a 1993 car with nearly 200,000 miles on it? It was a great car, but we decided it was time for us to move on. Since we plan to have more kids, a van seemed like the wise choice.

I wasn't quite sure how I would feel about driving a minivan, but I have to say that I actually love it! We found a great 2008 van that was in our price range, and boy does it have features! The sliding doors are motorized so they open and close at the push of a button. My boys think that is just magic! Plus the windows in the sliding doors actually roll down!

I could go on, but you probably don't need to know all the cool things my van does. The best part is that I am not the only one that approves of the van.

My boys just love it! When we looked at vans, Jonah was upset every time we didn't take a van home with us, which cracked me up! He loves all the room and having his own chair. Eli just loves being able to see everything outside. It will be nice to be able to go places with friends during the day and not necessarily needing to ride in separate vehicles.

We tend to baby our vehicles, so hopefully the van will be good to us for many years to come!

Funnies From the Book of Jonah

This morning Jonah comes up to me and says, "Knock-knock. Now Mommy, you say 'Who's at the door', ok?"

So I dutifully answered "Who's at the door?"

"Lettuce" Jonah replied.

"Lettuce who?" I responded.

"Lettuce at the door to eat!" He said and started to laugh.

"Why is there lettuce at the door?" I asked.

"Because it's a joke!" He said.

It's a good thing his best friend Allison gets his jokes because I'm afraid they are a bit lost on me. Though I do think he is pretty funny!
-----------------------------

Last week we were driving around in our new van after picking Jonah up from a playdate with his friend Micah. I asked Jonah "So did you have fun?"

To which he replied, "Yes!"

Then I asked, "What did you two play with at Micah's house?"

"Oh, just random things." he said.

Honey Daddy and I were just laughing in the front seat, wondering where that came from! After all, this kid is three years old... not fifteen!

Kids say the funniest things, don't they?

The Week in Pictures

Day 15
It's official! I am now a minivan driving mama.

Day 16
I let Jonah play the computer way too much this particular day. I can get so much done while he is thus occupied! How scary is it that my 3 1/2 year old can turn on the computer, open Safari and get to his favorite game sites (pbs, noggin, & sesame street)?!

Day 17
Eli wanted to try on Honey Daddy's new snow boots. Too bad he couldn't really move once he had them on!

Day 18
I live within 5 miles of three different Wal*Marts. So Monday we decided to head to the northern one to do our shopping so that we would drive past the Mount Timpanogos temple.

Day 19

After two weeks of cloudy skies, no sunshine and staying inside because of the haze and poor air quality, we finally got a nice day! It rained and cleared things up a bit. You could actually see all the way across the valley and we are all breathing easier!

Day 20
Preschool at my house today. The theme was Cowboys. Isn't my cowboy a cutie?

Day 21
Yesterday Jonah was crushed that he didn't get to shovel the skiff of snow off our driveway before it melted. So after aerobics this morning we hurried out to shovel what little snow was on the driveway before it melted. I think I will use the pictures I took as proof when they are older that they actually WANTED to shovel snow when they were little.

Stinky Boy and the Nudists

Sunday morning after breakfast we were getting ready for church. Honey Daddy had just stepped out of the shower and I just about to get into the shower. That's when it happened.

Little Eli walks into the bathroom. Honey Daddy asks, "Buddy, are you stinky?"
"Ginky", Eli confirms, as he puts his hand down the back of his diaper.

"No!" I instantly yelled as I stepped over the tub rim back into the bathroom.

Of course Eli pulled his hand out of his diaper... all sticky and disgusting.

We instantly went into action. Honey Daddy grabbed Eli's arm and washed off his hand in the sink while I cleaned up the stray bits that landed on the bathroom floor. Then we both proceeded to strip Eli out of his dirty diaper and now dirty pajamas. Eli had one of those diapers that was yucky from front to back, so we decided after wiping him down he would need to get in the shower with me to get clean.

Normally this would NOT be funny, but Honey Daddy and I were having a good laugh because we basically had a house full of streakers at that moment! The only one who had any clothes on at all was Jonah.

It's moments like these that make me look forward to potty-training Eli this year. He is a cute little stinker though, isn't he?

Week in Pictures

I managed to take a picture every day this week for my 365 project. Here they are:

Day 8
What would I do without goofy boys to take pictures of?

Day 9
Pictures are on this post.

Day 10
Didn't have a picture taken by bedtime. So I went in Jonah's room, turned on the light and took his picture. Good thing he is a sound sleeper, huh?

Day 11
I was playing with my new lens in the lamp-lit living room and loved how this picture of Honey Daddy turned out.

Day 12
Did you know the library I work at has lovely stained glass windows featuring various fairy tales and books? Well, now you know.

Day 13
We drive past this truck every once in a while and I always think it is fun to look at.

Day 14
Bath time!

So what have you been up to this week? Next week I am going to be posting my weekly pictures on Thursday as a part of Chris' Three-Six-Five (and Photostory Friday!). Here's the button in case you want to check it out.

The Buzz about the Boys

Isn't is amazing how different kids can be?

My boys definitely have similarities in their looks. Both of them are little blue-eyed blondies. Some people actually ask us if they are twins!

They may look alike, but they certainly have different temperaments! Jonah has always been cautious, even apprehensive sometimes. He does his best not to ever get hurt. He knows the rules and he follows them as best he can. He is a really good boy and smart as a tack.

Eli on the other hand is our little danger boy. He is adventuresome and not afraid of ANYTHING! He will do something slightly dangerous, get hurt, cry for two seconds... and then go do it again! He is also a bit more stubborn than Jonah and is constantly testing his boundaries.

So I guess I shouldn't be surprised at how different their reactions to getting their hair cut. Honey Daddy cuts the boys hair. He has been doing it since they were born. You would think by now Jonah would not react like this every. single. time.

In his defense, by the end of the haircut he had calmed down and was smiling. I know a lot of kids don't like getting their hair cut. You would think that since Eli is younger, he would be afraid of getting his hair cut too.

Not so!

It's no wonder you cannot treat all your children exactly the same! We definitely have to discipline Eli differently than Jonah, and different incentives work for each of them.

Regardless of their differences (and maybe even because of them), I love these little munchkins! They teach me so much every day... and they are adorable, don'tcha think?

Did You Know I had a Baby? Me Neither!

Apparently some of the major baby companies like Enfamil, Similac, and Huggies have decided that it was about time I had another baby.

I don't know where they got the idea that I have a newborn at my house! I didn't sign up for anything and I have not visited the maternity ward at my local hospital (I promise!). So imagine my surprise when I started getting a whole lot of this in the mail:

Coupons, informational fliers, and even samples of formula!

Wow! Now if only I had the baby to go with it. :o)

I know that little Eli is now 22 months old, which is exactly how old Jonah was when Eli was born. So apparently the baby companies decided that I am on a 22 month schedule!

Good thing I am in the best shape of my life, or I might be offended... like when someone asks you when you are due, only you aren't pregnant!

Picture Post: Project 365

Thanks to all your encouragement, I have decided to continue on with my 365 project, even though I missed taking a picture on Day 3. I have been faithful every day since, and decided to fill in Day 3 from an adjacent day.

I am going to do my best to take a picture every day, but if I miss one then I am not going to beat myself up about it!

I am going to post some of my favorite pictures of the week on Sunday or Monday. That way you can see the pictures that I like, and not be overwhelmed with too many pictures. Then I will post all the photos at the end of the year in a collage for those who are interested.

So here is my first week:

Day 1
Palm tree seeds in Arizona

Day 2
LONG drive home

Day 5
Laundry day

Day 6
Packing up Christmas

Day 7
Playdate with friends

I think this project is going to be a challenge, but it is also going to be a lot of fun. It gives me something fun to think about... what do I want to photograph today?

Joshua Trees

Have you ever seen a Joshua Tree?

Every time we travel to Tucson to visit my in-laws, we pass through the Joshua Forest Parkway. I love this part of our drive where sides of the highway are lined with these strange-looking trees. I have always thought they would be fun to photograph, but we usually don't really have time to stop.

This year Honey Daddy humored me and we all got out of the car so Mommy could take some pictures.

Of course I have tons of photos, but these are some of my favorites. Don't these trees remind you of something you would see in a book by Dr. Seuss?

It was nice to take a quick little stop and let everyone get out of the car and stretch their legs... especially after you have been in the car for about 10 hours!

The boys thought the trees were fun, and hopefully we will get to stop there again sometime.
