One of my very favorite things about the approach of summer and warmer weather is our return to playing outside in the sandbox. When we bought our house I had no idea how much I would LOVE our big sandbox!
More accurately, I never realized how much my boys would love the sandbox. They spend hours out there playing together... digging holes, building roads, filling and dumping various trucks and sand toys. This leaves me (mostly) free to get stuff done (like hanging laundry or folding it outside) or just time to relax and read a book while they play. If you have boys, I've got to tell you that a sandbox is a lifesaver!
Of course if you are going to be playing in the sun and sand there is one more thing that you absolutely need... Otter Pops! My boys and I have already started our stash in the freezer and have gotten them out a few times. The kids love them and they are SO cheap. Ahhh Summer! I love it!
We used to have a sandbox in our play area, but it's since been paved it over to make room for a new playset. Now if we want to dig, we really have to go to the beach! :)
ReplyDeleteI can imagine the hours of fun your boys have in there! I wish we had one for our boys!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, otter pops!! Gotta have those. That is a summer must have!
My kids also LOVE the sandbox... hours of bliss spent digging in the dirt!
ReplyDeleteWe use our sandbox like that as well, although it's Emma who is in it most of the time, making sand cakes and other sand desserts for me :)
ReplyDeletei LOVE the summer too! (or, spring, anyway. i could do without the 100 degree temps in the summer...)
My son loves his sand box too. What a great way to spend a morning or afternoon.
ReplyDeleteThey look like they are having so much fun!! We have a sandbox in the backyard I need to get it cleaned up so the kids can play in it.
ReplyDeleteWe had a sandbox at the old house, sadly it did not come with us. I think I need to get a new one - you are right boys need sandboxes!!

ReplyDeleteMy kids are too old now, but they loved playing in the sandbox when they were younger. Lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteHappy Wordful Wednesday.
We have one of those plastic turtle sand box thingies...I think we are going to need a bigger sand box! Good thing the beach is nearby!
ReplyDeleteAnd ohh I'll have to remember the otter pops this summer for the boys to try!
Yes we LOVED our sandbox too.. until the neighborhood cats started using it as their litter box. So just watch out.. because that really isn't much fun.
ReplyDeleteWe love Otter Pops too! They remind me of my childhood days. When playing in the sun and sand, you also need a hose. Well, at least in sunny Florida you do. Sweat and sand is so lovely in the summer time. :-P LOL
ReplyDeleteGreat pic, Mommy! :-)
I wanted to get The Dudes a sandbox, Dumb Dad didn't want to get the sand, so yeah now they just dig up my flower bed as though it were a sandbox. They do great things for the soil, though so I guess I'm not too upset over it.
ReplyDeleteour sandbox is much loved too. I haven't brought their big metal trucks out for fear of letting them get rusted, but I bet they'd love having them out there
ReplyDeleteso sweet...I love summer too
ReplyDeleteOK, I give up...what are Otter Pops??? Like popsicles??
ReplyDeleteMy son wouldn't play in the sandbox - he was a scardey cat, lol!
Loved the sandbox too. I think b/c it reminded me of the beach. :)
ReplyDeleteI need to get a sandbox now, and another little baby boy for my son to play with..that is such a cute pic!!!!! shelly
ReplyDeleteThey look like twins in there! My boys have a friend with a huge sandbox and they play in there for HOURS.
ReplyDeleteOh the sandbox.... Wish we had a big enough place to have something like that in our backyard... I guess the park across the street will have to do for now :) Such a sweet picture of your boys.
ReplyDeleteI love this photo of them in the box! And yes I can't wait to give my kids the ice pops too!
