The Roly Poly Problem

It is so much fun when little babies start to gain skills like sitting and rolling around, right?!

Well, yes and NO. You see, little Miss Aubrey is getting pretty good at rolling around on the ground. She is starting to figure out that she can actually get somewhere by rolling around! Hooray!

This isn't what is causing our little problem. She can roll around on the floor all day for all I care. It is when I put her in bed to take a nap that the rolling goes awry. Is Aubrey content to stay on her back and go to sleep peacefully like she used to?

Unfortunately NOT. Now more often than not she somehow manages to roll over in bed and since it it squishy she can't roll over onto her back. This makes her pretty annoyed, so she starts to holler about it. I don't know if you've noticed, but screaming and sleeping don't really coincide!

I have tried rolling her over and leaving her in bed, but she doesn't calm down and go back to sleep.  I have tried to leave her in bed to see if she can figure it out on her own, but that doesn't work either. She just seems to get more and more upset unless I pick her up. So I am at a loss!

So now we have a cute little sweetheart who is not getting enough sleep and one frustrated mommy. Oh well. At least I know it is just a phase and we will get past it, right?

In any case, she is still a cutie patootie!

  5. Someone just asked my advice about this as she is going through the same thing. Hopefully she'll learn quickly to roll back over so it's no longer an issue! She sure is a doll!

  9. Sorry that there's current sleep problems - it can really do your head in and exhaust you. I used to find I'd be 'fine' and go along ok the next day and then the smallest thing would happen and I'd fall apart. Really love that last shot and her outfit - there's something about brown with little ones clothes, either mixed with blue or pink that just makes it look so classy.

  11. She is adorable with her little headbands. When my daughter started doing this she stayed on her belly and slept which freaked me out but her pediatrician said try to roll her if you can but if she wants to be on her belly, leave her. Maybe you can remove whatever is making her bed squishy so she has more traction, just a thin sheet over the mattress. That's all I had in the crib because I was that over paranoid mom who thought she would suffocate if I put anything in the crib with her. I'm better now, I swear ;)

  21. Maybe a firmer mattress? But probably not worth it as she will soon be strong enough and it will pass. She is adorable- good luck in the meantime.
