Hot Air Balloons of Provo Balloon Fest 2011

A year ago I attended Balloon Fest in Provo and was SO disappointed when the balloons were not launched due to adverse wind conditions. As cool as it was to see the balloons get inflated, I wanted to see them FLY. So I decided to go again this year in hopes of seeing the balloons launch.


I guess you can see that I was not disappointed! The balloons launched and they were gorgeous! I love the way the colorful silk looks in the sunshine.


It was fun to see the different balloons all flying at different levels. The other amazing thing was how the wind would change depending on how high the balloons were. Some balloons would be going one direction, while another balloon that was just above them went in a completely different direction!


I was also fascinated by how the balloons look from below.


I would love to take a ride in a hot air balloon someday. Wouldn't you?

    Beautiful shots! My 80 year old aunt just did that for the 1st time like 2 weeks ago! I think I'm to chicken!

    those came out great. We loved the hot air balloon festival when we went too, but we didn't see them totally launch since that was at sunrise. I would love to go for a ride in one

    I recently attended a hot air balloon event too!! It was so HOT and they decided to release the balloons somewhere else and have them land where we were. It was really neat to see! So much control over a big silk ball of air!

    I intend to post my pix next week sometime. Look like we got quite a few of the same shots! Just different balloons. Hehehe...

    Here from 5MfM - what beautiful beautiful pics! We had one go over the house on Sunday, so close that the kids could see them waving at us!!! It was surreal to watch it so close up!
