Toss the Turkey, Trim the Tree!

After eating leftover turkey for a few days, I have just about all the turkey I can stand for now. I promise I won't toss it though! Instead I will put it in the freezer, forget it's there, find it in six months, question it's edibility, and THEN toss it. I feel much better about it that way, don't you?

I had a great time over the Thanksgiving holiday spending time with my family. It was nice to sleep in each morning and spend the days together. We did a little bit of shopping, but only after the Black Friday crowds had ebbed. We also got out the Christmas decor!

Honey Mommy and Daddy put up the tree one day and then decorated it over the next two days. The boys were so excited to put the ornaments on the tree! We explained that trees are to look at, not touch... so we'll see how many ornaments we find around the living room in the coming weeks.

I have to say it sure was nice to have some help reaching those high branches!

I think the tree turned out to be quite lovely, don't you?

Sometimes I like to sit and look at the tree all lit up in the dark, when the house is quiet and still. It helps me find the peace and joy in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.

We've been "selectivly" decorating his year... with a 20 month old, there are some things that are too breakable & precious to put out!!

  8. Great turkey plan, although you could just send it my way since we didn't cook and had no left over turkey.

    Love the tree!

  12. That turkey thing is always a problem. I thow it in the freezer, too, but pull some out and make turkey soup using Grandma's recipe everytime I need to take a meal to someone. That way I don't feel like I have to toss it out. I have never had a complaint yet.

The tree looks beautiful. I love having it up and looking at the ornaments we have collected through the years. Most bring special feelings that grow stronger each year. Enjoy it with the boys.
