He Glows in the Dark

While shopping some sales, I found a cute shirt for Jonah that just happens to have a picture that glows in the dark. He was so excited to wear it! He wanted to see it glow the minute I took it out of the drawer. I told him that first the shirt needed to "charge up" in the daylight and then he would have to look at it in the dark.

A short while later Jonah asked, "Is my shirt charged up?"

"Probably," I replied, "but you need to go somewhere really dark to see it glow."

"Ok, Mommy." He said. "Wanna see my shirt glow?"

"Sure." I said.

"Watch this mommy!" Jonah said excitedly as he walked to the coat closet, opened the door, walked inside (by himself!) and shut the door.

"Does it work?" I asked, trying not to laugh.

"Yes! Look mommy, it's glowing!" He replied. When he came out of the closet I asked him again if his shirt worked. He said, "Yes! It glew!"

I couldn't help but laugh. Kids can be so funny sometimes!

This is the same boy that while we were out walking, pointed out a rock an insisted that I take a picture of him sitting on it. This is a welcome change from the "don't point that camera at me" phase we went through last year!

Besides, who am I to argue with this cutie pie?

  1. That is so cute! Kids are so funny sometimes. And for some reason my kids always want me to take their pictures on rock, fences, etc too!

  2. It glew! That's awesome!

My son, whose mother constantly tries to bombard him with the importance of distinguishing between "May I" and "Can I" once asked me: "Dad, may you dunk a basketball?"

  4. Kids are so much fun! We have a glow shirt too and Connie could care less. But give him a flashlight and he'll walk through the scary dark all on his own.
They also used to beg to have their picture taken and now they're shy. Get as many as you can now, before it ends!

  5. I love it when kids can get such joy and wonder out of simple little things. I think we all need to get glow-in-the-dark shirts and step into the closet!
    'Glew' - Love it!

  10. Cute story!
When I read 'kids can be so funny sometimes' it reminded me of my daughter often saying of her little one - she's so silly. I 'hear' the joy in both of you.

    Thanks for the visit!

  12. "It glew"--->That has to be the cutest thing I have read all day! My daughter has some glow in the dark hair-ties, she thinks they are the coolest things that were ever invented.

That photo is priceless. It is very nice when they invite the picture taking instead of fighting against it!
