Unbeleafable Color

Autumn's appearance
in her lovely apparel
fills me with wonder.

The leaves are finally starting to change color around here and it is GORGEOUS! This Sunday the weather was nice enough that we walked to church. On the way home I looked up and noticed the mountains behind our house. It was breathtaking! So I got out my camera and went for a walk as soon as they boys were down for their nap.

The festive leaves are one of my favorite parts of Fall! I love the way they brighten up the trees and the way they crunch underfoot.

This afternoon I took the boys for a walk around the neighborhood. We saw some lovely leaves along the way. This next photo just makes me think of warmth and reaching for the golden sunshine.

The Aspens around our house are starting to change colors too. I love the way these little round leaves look when they blow about in the breeze.

All too soon the leaves will fall off, which always makes me a little melancholy. Winter is not my favorite time of year. Do you still have leaves on your trees?

  2. This is the absolute best time of the year. The color is at it's brightest, and the leaves are still on the trees. Mostly. Great shots!

  25. Great pictures! There are trees here that go bare in the fall. Some of them stay green all year round, not including the pines. Last year when it snowed it caused two of our trees to fall over because the leaves with the snow made them too heavy for the trunk to support. I don't like winter either. Burrrrr

  35. We don't really have seasons like that here in California. I have always wanted to live somewhere with lots of leaf dropping trees. It seems like raking them all into a huge pile and then jumping through them would be a blast. Great pictures.

  36. our trees have some color, but in Iowa we don't have the beautiful mountains to add to the glory of it all.

I love fall too but it does stink that winter is on its way!

  37. Your photos are wonderful! WOW! What color! our apple trees are still green but our other 2 trees have no leaves. The walnut tree was still green and it let go all it leaves in one day.

  44. Wowie! Those mountains are beautiful!! We have some pretty leaves on a few trees, but it can be quite windy in Boise, so it seems like many of them fall before their time...sigh. It is a little depressing for me too- but I just try to think how pretty everything will look with SNOW on it!! :)
