Debit or Credit? How about neither!

Debit card missing
Where on earth could it have gone?
I've searched everywhere!

There is some good news
Nobody else has used it
But neither can I!

Monday morning I got in the car with my boys to head to a local craft store. On Mondays they have a 50% off coupon, and I wanted to pick up some beading items. Halfway to the store I had the sudden urge to look in my purse and I noticed my debit card was not in its usual spot.

So I pulled over and emptied out my purse. No debit card. Frustrated, I drove home and searched the car and all my pants pockets. No debit card. I usually keep it in the same place in my wallet, so I had no idea where else it could be!

After checking online, I was relieved to find that no one else has used my card. I also discovered that the last time I had used it was an entire week before I discovered it was missing. The last place I used it was the dry cleaners, so I called them. No debit card.

I have spent the entire week searching and thoroughly cleaning my entire house (I cleaned under the stove, people!). No debit card.

My house is as spotless as it gets and I am tired of looking for my debit card. I don't carry around cash, so I haven't been able to go shopping all week! Now that we are giving up looking, the only thing to do is call and have our cards canceled and get new ones. My husband has to get a new card too because ours have the same number on it. That means we will both have to wait until they mail us new cards and then we have to learn another pin number! *sigh*

I am afraid that sticky little fingers may have run off with my card, just like the the missing car keys incident. Just in case you are wondering, I already checked inside the coffee table. :o)

I am participating in Haiku Friday.

  1. So sorry you couldn't find your cards - we recently had to get new ones due to someone getting into the bank's computer system...
Hope you have a good weekend. :)

  2. Aghhhh, that would just bug me to no end! I "lost" my debit card once for a few hours and already had it canceled because I am instantly paranoid like that. Hope it turns up, but if not, I'd cancel right away, just in case. My current bank lets me choose the PIN number, but my old one didn't - I feel your pain.

  6. Oy, I hate that! I've nver lost my debit card, although my wallet was stolen once so I had to get a new card and cancel the old one. My boyfriend, on the other hand, loses cards all the time and actually lost mine a few weeks ago when he went shopping. he took my card because he had lost his. He found his later but not mine. Sigh...I'd think it was shady but since he's the one bringing in all the income I guess he's just a flake.

  7. Oh no, I would be lost without my debit.

For what its worth, I can't find my checkbook this morning and I need to pay for my sons lunch at school. I don't think I had it Wednesday when I was needing it either. Hmmm

  8. OMG!! Thank goodness no one has used it. My card went missing one time, and I didn't realize it for 3 days. By that time, the person who took it had taken half of what was in checking. It was awful, but we did get the money back.

  12. That happened to me a year ago or so...As soon as I gave up after much searching and ordered a new one? Yep, found the old one.

These days whenever we can't find something and my granddaughter has been here? First place we look is the garbage can. I have no idea why she loves to hide everything in there.

  14. If either my husband or I are missing something....hair brush, credit/debit cards, gum, contact case, watch--I can go on and on...we ALWAYS ask our son. But asking him is usually unfruitful seeing that when ask him where that "something" is, he responds with, "I don't know". LOL!

Hope you find/cancel it before someone else gets a chance to use it.

  15. So funny! Sorry it's missing.

On another note... We were talking about books at work. Particularly about books that incite revolution and public conscience. One of the gals I work with mentioned that she heard that if you buy or check out a certain combination of books that the government tracks it. She said that she had heard about it from a friend who is a librarian. I thought you might be a good resource to check for validity... :) What are your thoughts, experiences? Is big brother really watching for a secret combination of book reading or purchases? Can they really track that? If so, this is Joan. :-P

  17. When I loose mine it always ends up being either in the back pocket of one of my jeans. (I stick it in there when getting gas) or in my pants drawer having fallen out of a pair of pants. Hope that helps or as my dad always said not so helpfully...where did you last see it? Uggh!

  23. This is seriously the story of my life. Besides "I love you", "Where are my keys?" is the thing I say most frequently. And I've been known to lose a debit card or 3 in my day. Good Luck!
