Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'

There is a cute little girl at my house who is becoming increasingly mobile. She used to hate being on her tummy... now she doesn't seem to mind it so much.

Mostly because she can quickly do this! It makes me laugh to see how deliberate she is about twisting her little body around to roll over.

Aubrey is starting to figure out that she can actually get places by rolling around. She isn't very fast yet, but I am sure she will figure it out before long!

Guess I'd better start childproofing the house again!

You Capture: Still Green

The other day I was taking pictures of the cute little mushrooms under my neighbor's tree. I especially liked this little guy surrounded by a sea of green grass.

And this cluster of mushrooms greeting the morning sun.

Speaking of green, I had to post a picture of our Fall tree. Every day as I drive Jonah home from Kindergarten we stop and take a picture of this tree.

I saw a fun idea about taking a picture of a tree in the fall every day at the same time so you can watch as it changes colors. Some of the trees nearby have started to change, but the tree we picked to watch... still GREEN!

I almost feel silly taking this same picture every day, but the tree will change color eventually right?

Acorn Afternoon

Since I have found so many fun things to do with acorns on Pinterest, my son Jonah and I went on a walk in our neighborhood to gather some. I want to use them in my apothecary jars. I haven't decided if I am going to use glitter or paint, but the possibilites are endless!

We found tons of acorns! I think we nearly filled an entire gallon ziploc bag, so I am sure there will be plenty for me to play with. I was thinking of glittering the caps or painting them. I may not have to do anything at all because I think they are kind of pretty already.

Now I am off to eat some pie. It is my birthday after all!

p.s. You asked for my Pinterest link, you got it!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Low Key
When I saw the first scavenger hunt item last week, I did not actually know what low key photography was! So I looked it up and found a tutorial on how to take low key photographs. After much trial and error, this is what I came up with. I learned something new and have to say that I am proud of how the photo turned out!

Monochromatic/Analogous color

I love this set of weathered doors. I have taken my boys' photographs here before. I love that even the hinge is brown/orange with rust.

Circle
This week for our cooperative preschool, I read the very hungry caterpillar and we made circle caterpillars using cups. Since we had leftover paint, I let my boys go crazy painting tons of circles with the cups. I love the way their little art project turned out!

Scarf

I have a confession.... I don't think I actually own a scarf! So while I was out shopping, I took this photo of some scarves on sale. Maybe I should get a scarf, but then I would have to figure out how to wear it!

Phone
How many phones can you find in this picture?

Would you believe that only two of these phones are currently in use, and one of them is the baby phone?! One of the phones pictured is the phone I currently use. Otherwise, this is our pile of old cell phones on top of all the spare batteries, chargers, and cases we have used in the past 10 years. Would you believe that there are 12 phones in this picture? Along with 7 cases, 6 wall chargers, 5 car chargers, 5 belt clips, 4 spare batteries and 2 dock-style chargers. Phew!

Our Little Cupcake

Can you believe that my baby is six months old already?

Oh my goodness, what a sweet girl! I took her six month photos this morning and I love how they turned out. The best part of taking your own photos is catching your kids when you know they are happy.

I cannot even tell you how happy we are to have this little girl as part of our family. She brightens our days and truly is our little sunshine!

It is amazing to watch her grow and see all the things she is learning! She has become more comfortable on her tummy, and can actually roll from her back to her tummy and then back again. Luckily for me, she has not quite figured out how to use rolling as a mode of transportation yet. I have a feeling we are going to have to childproof the house soon.

We love you Aubrey! We look forward to watching you grow through all the milestones to come!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Street Photography
There are some interesting old buildings in the downtown part of our city. So one evening I took the kids there to take some pictures. I realized after a few photos that the only thing missing was pedestrians! So my kids were kind enough to fill in for me. My boys were both so eager to push their little sister down the street, it was adorable! Later I noticed that my picture of the street is also right in front of a photography studio.

From a Distance
I know I posted a picture of the moon last week, but I figured that the moon is about as far distant as anything else I could photograph. Besides, in this picture the moon is full!

Sunday
Every Sunday we get dressed up and go to church. Unfortunately our meeting time is right when Miss Aubrey would like to be taking a nap. So often when we get home she goes to sleep as soon as I lay her down for a minute, even if it's in her Sunday dress!

 Liquid
I love that my camera can make water freeze in midair. It is so cool! This is a fountain that is not too far from my home.

Behind

I have two shots for behind this week.... because I couldn't decide which photo I liked better. The first one is a picture of some funky clouds on the mountains behind our house. The other one is a picture that was taken from behind my son during a soccer game.

Stunning Sunset

Oh how I love Fall! No only is the weather perfect, it seems that everything in the world is more colorful and stunning. Even the sunsets.

The sunset was so breathtaking the other day that I had to stop my van full of kids in the grocery store parking lot so I could take pictures.

Pink, orange, purple, blue, yellow... gorgeous!

Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm,
but to add color to my sunset sky.
