Our Christmas Book Advent

At the beginning of this week I felt like I was coming down with something nasty. Since then Aubrey and I have been feeling a bit under the weather. My head is all congested and my voice sounds funny. My poor baby girl ended up with a runny nose and a cough. Add teething to that, and we have one miserable little girl! Poor thing.

She has not been sleeping or napping well, so Tuesday after story time at the library when my friend and I traded kids, I decided to go pick up and drop off with Aubrey in the van. That way maybe she would fall asleep in her car seat.

Well, it turns out that one of my kids did fall asleep... just not Aubrey.

Eli was passed out cold when we got home. I carried him inside and set him on the couch. When I came back this is how I found him. Silly boy!

I never did get Aubrey to take a nap. She had a hard time getting to sleep that night too. It didn't matter whether I held her or put her in her bed, either way she was miserable. I think the congestion in her head was making her uncomfortable. Finally I ended up putting her in her carseat, and she settled down and fell asleep sometime around 1 a.m.

I am happy to report that today she is feeling much better. She still has a cough, but now she has two teeth instead of just one! Just that little bit of relief helped her have a much better day.

I had a better day as well. Something about the start of December makes me cheerful. Plus tonight we started our Christmas book advent!

Each day until Christmas we will open a new Christmas book to read. Today we got "Mortimer's Christmas Manger" by Karma Wilson, which is one of my favorites. It is going to be so fun to read a new Christmas book each day!

  1. Love the Christmas book advent idea. I'm definitely going to have to do that with my daughter. Wish I had thought of it this year. Guess it's not too late to start though, right? :)
