Soccer Mom

Yesterday was the first day of school and my hubby is out of town, so it was a one woman show! No wonder I forgot to post! Oh well, here it is now.

It's official! I am now a minivan driving soccer mom!

I wanted Jonah to be able to play soccer this year, but unfortunately I did not get him signed up in time! I was so disappointed. So I signed him up on the waiting list, hoping that he would get a spot for the spring season.

I was so excited last week when I got the call that there was an opening for Jonah! So we got his uniform and went out and bought him shin guards and cleats. He was a little nervous about soccer practice (Mom, what if I kick the ball the wrong way?), but after his first practice he decided he loved it!

Of course I took pictures, so here you go!

I thought his coaches were really fun. They got to warm up and stretch out when they got on the field. It was so cute!

Jonah got plenty of practice dribbling the ball around, which he is actually pretty good at!

After just one practice I have to say that I love Jonah's coach. Since the coaches volunteer, you never know what you are going to get. But the coach was great! He made it so much fun for the boys. They played games and had a great time. Doesn't he look like fun?

Here the coach is showing the boys how to guard the ball. Jonah is trying to get it away from him.

It was cloudy the first half of the practice, and then the sun came out! Phew! It was hot. The boys drank a ton of water, so I guess I had better bring more to practice next week.

I have a feeling that soccer season is going to be so much fun!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday: 2nd Edition

I did it again! I managed to participate in this scavenger hunt twice in a row. With two busy boys and a cute baby girl it is quite a challenge, but I am having a great time looking for new things to photograph.

Old and New
This is my 5 month old daughter wearing a necklace that belonged to my grandmother. Isn't she precious?

Night Photography

I wanted to take a picture of the mountains with a starry sky, but it has been cloudy in the evenings here all week! So instead you get a picture of the mountains and some clouds. In the foreground is the cemetery that is not too far from our house.

Music
I have a confession. I am recently addicted to eBay. Did you know you can buy beads and jewelry from China and Hong Kong for next to nothing? Sure you have to wait 20 days for it to get here, but who cares when you can buy it for $0.99? This is one of my recent finds. It is a pendant shaped like a treble clef, and I LOVE it!

Cheesy
It has been so HOT this week that I haven't been in the mood to cook anything. Just the other night we had omelets, for which I grated this lovely cheese.

Sun

Would you believe the daylight ran away from me on this one? I kept meaning to take a picture of the sunset, but never quite managed it. So not far from our house are some enormous sunflowers. So here is my sun just after sunset.

Ordinary Moments

This is one of my favorite You Capture prompts because it is all the little everyday moments that add up to make our lives truly extraordinary. So it wasn't really a big deal when last week's You Capture was postponed. I just posted my ordinary moments anyway. So now you get to see my ordinary moments from this week too!

This is a common sight at my house in the summer. Little boy clothes hanging out to dry on the clothesline.

This week little miss Audrey got to get in the ExerSaucer for the first time. She thought it was pretty fun!

My favorite moment from this week was captured just yesterday morning. I got my beautiful girl out of the tub and while she was laying on my bed in her towel, she discovered her toes. It was so precious I had to run and get the camera!

Isn't she just the cutest thing ever. These two photos make my heart smile!

Artsy Craftsy Afternoon

This week I did something that I have been meaning to do for a long time. I went to the store and bought some washable paint. Then I got out the clothesline, put up a sheet, and turned the boys loose!

We tried to mix paint with water and put it in some squirt guns, like I saw in Family Fun magazine, but it wasn't as colorful as we wanted it to be. So then we got out some pie tins and got our hands dirty.

Then we hosed the sheet off and watched our handprints melt away. Then later in the evening when the sheet had dried, we got out the foam brushes and went crazy! The boys had so much fun!

The best part is that the sheet washed out completely. So now we can do it again another day!

P.S. I made these cute scrapbook pages using My Memories Suite software, which I am giving away!

My Memories Suite Review, Giveaway and Discount Code

Eureka! I have finally found it!

Though I have been blogging for years, I have never quite gotten around to scrapbooking. I love taking pictures and have wanted to find a way to show off my photos and preserve our family memories, but getting out all the paper supplies with three kids around is a recipe for disaster (don't you think?!). Plus when you scrapbook on paper you can't really change the page when you are done.

So I have known for a while now that digital scrapbooking is the way I wanted to go. It is perfect since all my images are digital and stored on the computer anyway. However I had not managed to find any software that was Mac-friendly and easy to use.

THEN I was contacted by My Memories Suite and asked if I wanted to review their software and host a giveaway. I jumped at the chance, and boy am I glad that I did! I downloaded the software (available for PC and Mac) and went to work. Check out some of the pages I have made! So cute!

I have never found scrapbooking software that is as easy to navigate as My Memories Suite. They have quick pages and premade layouts BUT you aren't stuck with them. You can customize, re-size and crop your little heart out. You can also add embellishments, text/journaling boxes and word art.

I have to say that my favorite part of My Memories Suite is that you can use any digital scrap-booking files that you already have and integrate them into the program. There are TONS of free images and scrap-booking kits you can download online. When I first got the itch to start digi-scrapping, I downloaded tons of cool paper and embellishments. But when I tried to figure out how to use them in Photoshop, I just got frustrated. Now I can use all those files I downloaded to create beautiful scrapbook pages!

You can also make cards, calendars and so much more with My Memories Suite. The software already comes preloaded with tons of paper, ribbons, brads, buttons, bows, flowers, etc. and they have oodles of free downloads. If all of this wasn't enough, they also offer additional digital scrapbooking kits/paper/layouts that you can purchase from their website. I am in heaven!

The software is quite user friendly, but there are also lots of tutorials online to help you.  I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who is looking to start digital scrapbooking! It is the only software you will ever need to buy.

Want to win My Memories Suite 2 for yourself? It's your lucky day, because they are offering one Honey Mommy reader the opportunity to try it out for free!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday: 1st Edition

I have wanted to participate in this photo challenge for quite some time, but having a new baby has kept me pretty busy! But I decided to give it a shot, even if I don't end up with the "perfect" shots each week. Hope you like these!

Geometry

The quilt we had on our bed was falling apart, which is not surprising since we got it for our wedding 8 1/2 years ago. So we bought a new coverlet that is light blue and brown. I love all the embroidered circles and triangles.

Brushstrokes
We had a bit of an art day this week. I put up the clothesline and put up a sheet for the boys to paint on. They had so much fun!

Hanging by a Thread
I discovered a new bead shop (the Bead Fairy), and I was in heaven! They have almost any kind of beads you could ever want and I spent way too much on all these hanging beauties!

Collage
My baby girl is now five months old! Can you believe it?!

On the Dotted Line

I had all sorts of ideas for this prompt, but did not have time to take any of those pictures. So instead you get a picture of big balloons on a string. I guess you could say it IS a dotted line!
