Costume Conundrum

Can you believe that it is already October? Wow! When did that happen?

Do you already know what are your kids going to be for Halloween? Or should I say, have your kids decided what they want to be for Halloween?

Last year we had the PERFECT costumes for the boys. Jonah HAD to be Buzz Lightyear and Eli was too young to care, so I dressed him up as Woody. Weren't they so stinking cute?

It wasn't too hard for Honey Daddy and me to come up with matching costumes. I think our family looked pretty awesome trick-or-treating last year.

So this year I have a little bit of a problem. Little Eli now has a mind of his own. He is no longer too young to care what he is for Halloween. He knows what he wants to be, which means that I can't just dress him however I want to without him throwing a fit about it.

This wouldn't really be a problem except for his choice of costume. You see, Jonah STILL wants to be Buzz Lightyear for Halloween... no matter how much I've tried to talk him into something else. By now you've probably guessed what Eli wants to be.... Yep! Buzz Lightyear!

I thought about making one of them dress up as something else, but that just seams a bit mean. Who am I to say they can't both be Buzz?

So it looks like I will be trick-or-treating with a pair of Buzzes. Just don't get them started on who is the REAL Buzz Lightyear (ala Toy Story 2). Maybe I will just have to teach one of them to say "Buzz Lightyear al rescate!" and the other can say "Buzz Lightyear to the rescue!" That way I will have Spanish Buzz and English Buzz from Toy Story 3.

There is a bright side.... at least Honey Daddy and I can reuse our costumes too, right?

  1. oh man... I don't know what I am going to do when Payton has a mind of her own. haha. I mean she has one but I can still somehow get away with dressing her up how I want, at least I think. BUT we haven't fully decided yet. Which reminds me I need to start shopping. :) Happy WW. Thanks for linking up. Have a great rest of the week.

  2. Good luck with the conundrum. You were pretty stinkin cute last year. Every year up until now my kids have done a theme too and I'm thinkin I got away with it for a long time being that they are 9 and 11. No advice. It'll be fun to see what you come up with. Happy WW!

  3. I love the idea of Spanish Buzz and English Buzz. Will Spanish Buzz be willing to twinkle-toe around and put on the whole act? If so, I want video! LOL

  4. Both of mine wanted to be "Woody" for about a day but now one is going to be Spiderman and the other a football player. Although it changes daily!

Y'all are going to look great - AGAIN! :D

  5. Oh yes, they do become opinionated. I say let them be what they want, even if it is the same as last year. My youngest daughter, 2 years old wants to be DJ Lance Rock from Yo Gabba Gabba. I am hoping she will change her mind!

  7. that is too cute. I didn't let my boys pick their own costumes exactly. I gave Blake a few choices and picked for Colby. But he was happy with my choices so that works for me. I know the day will come when they insist on a certain costume then... guess we find a way to do what they want.

  9. You should teach one of them to say the Spanish - that's hilarious.
My kids still don't care (aren't I lucky?). So they will be Superman and Batman. I would like to be Wonder Woman - still need red shoes, red top, gold cuffs, and gold crown...but you know. I would like Anthony to be Captain America but I doubt he dresses up this year :(

  11. I love the idea of two Buzz Lightyears! That is so cute! My youngest daughter was Ariel two years in a row. I couldn't get her to change her mind and you know, it was the cutest thing seeing her as Ariel two years in a row.

I like the Spanish and English Buzz from Toy Story 3 idea. That's really funny. Teach one son to say, "Hola!" ;-)

  15. That's too cute!! At least if people ask you can tell everyone you are all from Toy Story 2, and that movie DOES have 2 Buzzes in it at one point :) We are having issues with costumes this year, in that every week Tommy changes his mind!!
