One day early this week I thought about bringing my camera, but decided to leave it at home. Wouldn't you know that is the day when something interesting actually happens?!
While we were walking past a local school I noticed something over the top of the building. Then I realized what it was-- a hot air balloon!
Darn it! I couldn't believe I left my camera home!
But I walked the boys over and we watched the balloon for a little while. The announcer said they weren't going to let it go because of the nasty clouds and wind. After watching for a while we had to get home so we could make it to music class.
As we were walking home I glanced back towards the school-- and there it was up in the sky! So we ran home as fast as mommy could go (pushing a double stroller)! When we got to the house I ran inside, grabbed my camera, and put on my zoom lens. I managed a few pictures before it drifted back to the ground.
The school is quite a few blocks from our house, so I was pretty impressed that I was able to zoom in far enough to get these shots.
That was our excitement for the week. It isn't too often you see a hot air balloon practically in your own backyard, is it?!

How neat! I've never seen one in my backyard (and I've seen just about everything including what my this weeks photostory is about... LOL).
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I've ever seen a hot air balloon in real life...it looks like quite a sight!
ReplyDeleteYou should head up to the ballon festival in Eden next August -- it's beautiful. I love the second picture here -- the balloon against the mountains makes for some great contrast.
ReplyDeleteNicely done!
Aren't hot air balloons fun? Great shots! I think you probably had your workout pushing that double stroller!
ReplyDeleteHow cool!!
ReplyDeleteI love when we see Hot Air Balloons. They have a festival not too far from our house in the early summer and there are TONS that dot the sky then! One day we just might take a ride on one...we shall see!
ReplyDeleteThat must be a pretty good zoom lens.
ReplyDeleteVery nice clear shots of the balloon.
I love finding them in the sky. Those are great shots!
ReplyDeleteThose are great shots!! But it's typical that you see interesting things when you've left your camera at home! LOL!
ReplyDeleteWe often see a balloon gently sailing overhead on summer evenings, because there is a field somewhere nearby where they launch. Amazing sight, isn't it?
I would love to go in one of those things. great photo friday
ReplyDeleteDefinitely never seen a hot air balloon above my home!!
ReplyDeleteI think that hot air balloons are beautiful to look at but I would never ride in one. I am way too scared of heights for that!
ReplyDeleteno it isn't, nice capture. If you want to wander down my road I’m home.
ReplyDeleteNot unless you live in Provo near the hospital on the 4th of July, then you get tons! But I don't... Great shots.
ReplyDeleteYour post made me realize that I haven't seen the hot air balloons all summer...used to see 2-5 every night. I guess they went out of business. Lucky shot for you.
ReplyDeletei love your sunny layout! happy sits saturday!
