March Madness

Remember on last week when I was moaning about the cold and nasty weather we were having? I even wrote a letter telling the month of March that we couldn't be friends anymore because he was not playing nice.

Well, apparently not only is March a bit capricious... he also has a bit of a temper. This is how my pretty yellow crocuses looked like this morning around 10 a.m.

I thought that my flowers were goners for sure. Luckily it seems that crocuses are not just pretty, they are also tough. Here are the same flowers this afternoon around 4 p.m.

Hello Yellow! Way to go flowers!

What a difference six hours makes, huh? So take that March! Spring is going to happen whether you like it or not!

See who else is feeling Wordful.

I am not quite so lucky...Texas weather kills my plantings at least once every year...

  6. That first photo, while sad because of the snow, is so stunning!

I am glad your snow melted by that afternoon. Ours is still lingering and too cold. It WILL pass though...right?

  9. Even though it doesn't snow here (only a handful of times in my 30 something years!), it was COLD here last week, and this week it is near 80! Much unlike everyone else I know, I prefer cold weather to hot (I know, if I had all your snow - I might change my mind). Where I live, with heat comes bugs! Yuck!

  10. Crocuses (Crocii??) are indeed hardy ~ they'd have to be to be our official provincial flower! Isn't it awesome to see spring slowly winning the war? Man, I can hardly wait!!!

It's been very close to -40 the last two mornings though, so I will have to wait a few more days!

  14. Pretty....I remember living in Colorado and the crocuses are the first to come up each year. We knew that Spring had arrived for sure.

My Wordful is filled with fireflies, fantasy and fairies today, won't you stop by to keep her company? Happy Wednesday!

  16. Love the pic!! I adore this time of year when everything springs back to life and starts to peek out of its winery graves.

We had the same thing happen the other day although backwards. We woke up to 50 degree weather with the sun shining and a few hours later it was snowing! Craziness!
