Don't Push My Buttons!

Have you ever attended a baby shower where you felt like you were trapped in a room full of people, most of whom you did not know, while being forced to play ridiculous games. No? Maybe it's just me.

So when it was my turn to be the recipient of a baby shower, I insisted on an open-house type shower. That way guests could stay for as long or as little as they wanted.

We did have some games and activities for the guests if they wanted to participate. One of the activities we had was decorating white onesies. We got many fun and interesting onesies that we are still using with our second son.

Believe it or not, my favorite onesie was decorated by my brother-in-law. It still cracks me up.

You would think that by now I would have found the correct button for endlessly peaceful days. Unfortunately the right button seems to change each day! Besides, I am not always the one that ends up pushing the buttons.

Guess what this button does Mommy!

Right now Eli is at an ultra-wiggly stage. He does not want to sit still for an instant. He wants to crawl around and get into everything (toilet, anyone?). He doesn't quite understand the meaning of "no" and sometimes I feel like I chase him around all day. You can't take your eyes of him for an instant because if you do you never know what might happen. Just this morning he pitched himself headfirst into the tub. Fun stuff, huh?

Since I have to keep my eyes on him constantly, I guess it's a good thing he's a cutie. :o)

  2. I love that idea. I had never heard of that before. I have played the baby poop game where you guess what candy bar is in the diaper but I am not very good at that.

When our youngest was little I used to entertain my mom with tales of my day. Let's just say that he was a busy boy and broke two lamps, a t.v. and a vcr all before he was two. Everytime I headed to the bathroom he headed to get into something, lol!

One day, at her request, I taped my "day" with my toddler son. It is so much fun to watch now that he is 15! Part of it involves the dog throwing up and him coming around the corner and slipping and getting covered in it (and no, I didn't know it was there).

  4. Yes, it is a good thing he is so cute! But I think God must have made it that way. When our babies young, their welfare is in our hands, but it doesn't last long and from now on he'll learn to be more independent as each month goes by. Then you treasure the time when he was young.

  8. What a riot! And what a precious pose modeling it! :)

And if I have to determine the brand-name of one more microwaved candybar nestled in a diaper...

  15. What a hilarious onesie! Very creative! I hate games at baby showers, but that one is a great idea. I've heard of people doing that at a shower, but I've never been to one that did. I wouldn't be very creative though, so maybe it's for the best! :)

Good luck with the little guy! I feel your pain...

  19. I hate attending showers unless it is someone I am really close to and I know people there. It is torture to be at a party where you know no one....hasn't anyone realized that yet!! That onesie game idea was cute and the button onesie is priceless!

  24. YES, I have been to those baby showers...and like you I also had an open house instead of the traditional shower! Somehow, passing around a diaper with smashed-up candy bars inside is not my idea of a good time! I love that onesie, though! So, so, so true...I haven't found the right button with my three boys yet either, and the oldest will be 11 tomorrow!

Thanks for visiting my blog! So glad to meet you!
