A Watched Tooth Never Comes In!

You may recall that a few weeks ago I wrote a letter to the tooth fairy, asking her to speed things up with the two front teeth that Eli has working on. As of right now, I am thinking that either my letter did not work... or the tooth fairy has a wicked sense of humor!

Eli has had his bottom two front teeth for a while. When he started teething again, it was obvious to me that the front two teeth were next. His gums were swollen and I could practically see the outline of the teeth under his gums!

I'm smiling, Mommy! Take the picture!

So I have been watching closely for those top two teeth to come in. At least once a day (probably more like twice) I would check to see if the top two teeth had come in. No such luck!

Then a few days ago I noticed that the incisor next to the top two front teeth had broken through the skin! I hadn't even been looking for that one and POOF!, there it was.

Well, good. I thought. That means the front two should be in soon!

At this point the tooth fairy was probably just laughing her head off at me because yesterday I noticed while I was feeding Eli that he has THREE teeth on the bottom instead of just the front two. What on Earth?! When did that happen?!

Haha! You've been watching the wrong teeth!

So I have decided that the old adage about a watched pot never boiling must apply to teeth too. I guess I'll just stop checking for those top front teeth and they will pop right out!

  2. hope that tooth brings him some relief... it just goes to show you should expect the unexpected when it comes to kiddos.

I've given up thinking Blake's molars are coming soon or Colby's well... any of Colby's teeth... I say they come in when they come in!

  3. That's great that he's getting them so quickly. My daughter got hers like that. It took till 11 months till she had any and then POOF she had a full mouth. It was horrible as it went but in retrospect it's better to just get that horrible out of the way as quick as possible. My son's have been so drawn out and it sucks.

  5. That is too funny and those pictures are precious!! I remember when Cameron was getting all of his teeth...they came in just like I thought that they should and then a few teeth would pop through and I thought to myself (where did those come from). Now he has a mouth full of sharp teeth and working on his 2 year molars.

  6. My daughter started teething at 4 months and didn't get her first one in until 7 months! It was a long, cruel trick! Happy watching! Have a wonderful day.

  7. LOL--that is cute! My two year old was a little like that--some teeth "mysteriously" appeared while others I could almost feel his pain as the teeth would slowly start breaking through.

These poor babies--they are sooo strong and tough though!

  11. I've been dealing with the same thing with Sweet Pea's 2 year molars. It seems like teeth take forever to come through! Ugh! Love his sweet little smile!

  12. How funny! My oldest son got his 'fangs' before his front teeth and ran around looking like a little vampire for a while. :)
