Catch the Moment 365 | {January 11-16}

Another week, another set of pictures! I have decided to join Nurse Loves Farmer, Behind the Camera and Dreaming and SimplyStavish for their Catch the Moment 365 on Friday morning. The timing works out better for me, but I will still be linking to 365 at The Boy and Me.

So here are my photos for the past week from the Honey House.

Day 11

With all the snow we had the past few days, we were hoping to go sledding today. No such luck! It warmed up enough that everything was slushy. So we went to a nearby church parking lot and had scooter races on the mostly dry asphalt. Can you tell I have two boys and a girl?

Day 12

On Sunday my boys think it is fun to read the comics together. They don't really get most of the jokes, but I think it is adorable that they still try!

Day 13

I got my new camera bag today! I have wanted a nice camera bag for a while now and finally decided on a 2 Sues bag made by Kelly Moore. Isn't it gorgeous?!

Day 14

After Kindergarten today I discovered that Eli and Miss Aubrey had made up a "bed" on the couch and were having a great time playing together and being silly. What a cute pair!

What's on your night stand? I bet you don't have this many books! This evening I went to my Young Adult book group and brought this huge stack of books with me. As a children's librarian, I have been trying to read all the contenders for the Newbery Award before it is announced at the end of January. I have read almost all of these books in the past month.

Day 15

Eli came home from Kindergarten today and was determined to finish all of his math homework... for the entire month of January! Who am I to say no to that kind of determination? So we sat down and got them all done this afternoon.

Day 16

I took this picture when I got home from the gym this morning. Yep! It is still pitch black outside when I get home from the gym at 6:30 am. I have been going to the gym 4-5 times a week for the past two months. All my hard work paid off! Not only have I lost 7% of my body fat, I found out today I won the biggest loser contest at work! Hooray!

This evening I played Twister with the kids. Miss Aubrey didn't quite understand the game and spent most of the time laying down on the job. We had so much fun and laughed so hard!

Catch the Moment 365 | {January 5-11}

Day 5

Sunday morning my little girl cozied up to her Daddy and started being silly and making us laugh. Luckily my camera was close by, so I managed to snap a picture of the two of them together.

Day 6

Last month for Scouts my son made a birdfeeder using a cardboard tube, peanut butter, and seeds. We watched and waited, but did not catch any birds eating the seeds. When I came home from dropping the kids off at school I spotted this little guy having breakfast. So I had to take some pictures to show Jonah that his bird feeder worked!!

Day 7

Today my little girl was supposed to be taking a nap in her room. I had already put her back in bed once and then it was quiet, so I thought for sure she was asleep. When I peeked into her room I caught her trying to put a diaper on her dolly!

Day 8

It snowed like crazy all day today! I shoveled the driveway three or four times! In between shoveling, I decided to try to take pictures of snowflakes. The above picture was the best of the bunch and I was pretty happy with it!

I also have a pretty cute shoveling crew, don't you think? After all their hard work we decided to stop and make a snowman. I think he turned out pretty well.

Meet Sam the Snowman. Isn't he cute?

Day 9

My oldest boy started karate in the Fall, and so far he loves it! Today was parent watch day, so I got to snap a few pictures of the instructor showing him how to get out of a hold.

Day 10

Miss Aubrey absolutely loves her Bear-Bear (in case you can't tell)! When she falls asleep she likes to cuddle up to him and stroke his gingham ribbon between her fingers. It is the cutest thing ever!

Day 11

With all the snow we had the past few days, we were hoping to go sledding today. No such luck! It warmed up enough that everything was slushy. So we went to a nearby church parking lot and had scooter races on the mostly dry asphalt. So fun!

How was your week?

Catch the Moment 365 | {January 1-4}

Happy New Year!

I am not typically the type of person who makes "resolutions". I prefer to make and set goals whenever I feel the need. However, in an effort to get my camera out more often and document our daily lives, I decided this year I wanted participate in a 365 project. It will be nice to start with the new year and take photos every day this year.

Additionally, I have always wanted to have a scrapbook that my kids can enjoy (and me too!), so I have decided to start working on my Project Life scrapbook this year. I have a scrapbook and core kit and everything I need to get going. Now I just need to fill my book with pictures. So here we go!

Day 1

January 1st- After staying up late we all slept in and spent the whole morning in our pajamas! Don't I have the cutest kiddos? In the afternoon the boys and Daddy worked on building the Lego Millennium Falcon that they got for Christmas.

Day 2

January 2- Today we went to the library and checked out a bunch of books. The boys checked out a bunch of Star Wars books, which may have been influenced by all the Lego Star Wars sets they got for Christmas.

Day 3

January 3- The kids and I went to see a morning matinee of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. We all had a good laugh at all the "foodimals" such as shimpanzees, watermelephants and flamangos.

Day 4

January 4- We typically spend Saturdays cleaning up around the house and getting ready for church on Sunday. So all the kids get cleaned up as well. Here is Miss Aubrey playing with her animals in the tub.

Potty Training and Project 365 Fail

It seems that potty training and photography don't mix. This week I only managed to take four pictures for seven days, unless I manage to find something interesting to photograph after I get home from work this evening. It seems to be getting harder for me to take a photo every day, so the question is do I keep going, or give up?!

Oops! I totally missed Day 260.

Day 261
September 18: My mom came to visit and we attended the Fallow Field Farm Marketplace in Lindon, UT. They had many different vendors selling everything from quilts, jewelry, sweets, soap and so much more. We had a fun time looking around at all the fun creations.

Day 262
September 19: My son Eli fell off the neighbors trampoline and landed on his head! Luckily he didn't get a concussion or a big goose-egg, just some nasty scrapes. It seems their nine year old daughter was kind enough to help him get on the trampoline and then he got bumped off while jumping with some bigger kids. This is exactly why I don't have a trampoline! The new rule is that Eli can't jump without an adult present!

Day 263
September 20: Saw the most gorgeous sunset today! The sky seemed like it was on fire. I threw my kids in the stroller and walked super-fast to get a picture without houses in it. What a work out, those kids are heavy!

Day 264
September 21: I see London, I see France! I see Eli's underpants! So this picture is from Monday when we started potty training. Diapers and pull-ups are too absorbent and kids KNOW they can potty in them. So we go directly to underwear, with diapers reserved for naps and bedtimes. Sure we have accidents, but my boys seems to get it more quickly this way. Today was Day 4 and we only had 1 accident, so I think it's going pretty well!
 Day 265
September 22: A whole series of thunderstorms rolled through today! We had lightening, thunder, rain, hail, and some really cool-looking clouds.

No picture yet today. Wonder if I will get it done or not?

Picnics in the Park:
Daily Photo: Week 37

Day 253
September 10: Friday afternoon the boys and I went and had a picnic at a local park. It's probably more accurate to say that I had a picnic lunch and the boys had bites on the run!  It was a beautiful day and we had a lovely time.

Day 254
September 11: If you don't have boys, you really have no idea how dirty little humans can get in the space of a few hours!

Day 255
September 12: Eli the tool man. Helping Mommy get ready for preschool the next day.

Day 256
September 13: We drove up the canyon to see if we could see any signs of fall. Sure enough! The leaves are starting to look gorgeous up there already!

Day 257
September 14: Honey Daddy "accidentally" cut a few roses off our rosebushes while he was trimming them. So I got to put them in a vase in the house.

Day 258
September 15: Nothing says Fall to me like CANDY CORN! I don't know why (maybe because it's pure sugar), but I love this stuff! Not in large quantities, but a little bit once in a while. When we saw candy corn in the bulk candy at the grocery store, Honey Daddy was kind enough to buy me some.

Day 259
September 16: We ended our week with a picnic in the same park. This time we met up with friends and ran around the park picking up pine cones and blowing dandelion seeds. What fun!

Bugs, Boys and Fruit:
Daily Photo: Week 36

Day 246
September 3: My sister literally has a plague of grasshoppers at her house, so it was not hard to get a good picture of one of these guys. As you walk to her front steps the grasshoppers leap out of your way so they don't get stepped on. The boys thought it was hilarious, but my sister does not find it amusing at all.

Day 247
September 4: Choo- Choo! Thomas and Friends make bath time for dirty boys more fun.

Day 248
September 5: Honey Daddy recently got a new job and got to get a smart phone for work. Now he can get his email, surf the web, and do all kinds of other things with his phone. I don't really mind because his employer will be paying part of our phone bill. I also get send texts now, which is pretty fun.

Day 249
September 6: Happy Labor Day! I spent the day canning some delicious salsa... now if only I wasn't out of corn chips!

Day 250
September 7: If you ever wonder what raising boys is like, it looks a lot like this.

Day 251
September 8: The plums are just about ready to fall off our tree! I guess I will be making some plum jam this weekend. Yummy!

The Roofing Saga
A Photo A Day: Week 29

Day 197
July 16: Today our BIG dumpster arrived in preparation for our roofing project. Is it weird that I put my boys in the dumpster to take their picture? They thought it was fun, so I guess I'll stick with fun rather than strange.

Day 198
July 17: I thought the clouds looked lovely today. We could use some cloud cover for our roofing project, but NO rain!

Day 199
July 18: Today I realized that I never take pictures of Mount Timpanogos in the summer. So here is the view behind my house for this time of year.

Day 200
July 19: I drive by this enormous carved corn cob on my way to a nearby Wal*Mart. It's lovely, don't you think?

Day 201
July 20: We started working on the roof today. By the end of the day we had shoveled the shingles off half of the house! Hooray! The forecast called for sunny weather all week. So of course at 10:30 p.m. it started to pour buckets. So we were on the roof in the dark spreading out tarps and drop cloths so the water would not soak into the plywood. Fun times, let me tell you!

Day 202

July 21: After putting the boys to bed I went up to check out the progress on the roof. The back side of the roof is completely covered with underlayment so now we don't have to worry about water. There are also some new shingles up there. Hooray! So I got to relax and watch the sunset from the rooftop. So beautiful! I couldn't decide which picture I liked better, so you get both.

Day 203
July 22: New shingles are a beautiful sight to behold! This evening while I am at work a bunch of our friends will show up to help shovel the shingles off the front of our house. Then we will really get to laying the rest of the shingles! We are so happy for the help because Honey Daddy and Papa are exhausted!
