Scavenger Hunt Sunday {9•30•12}
Blooms and Bugs

Yellow

While I was out on a walk with my boys we found some lovely yellow chrysanthemums in our neighborhood. As an added bonus there was a yellow jacket sitting on one of the flowers! He appeared a little worse for wear, as he is missing an antenna and made no effort to fly away even when I got in close.

Connections

I admit that this prompt had me stumped! Luckily my son loves to do puzzles, and while he was connecting the pieces, I made the connection to this prompt and got out my camera.

Getting Ready

I also took these pictures while walking with my boys. There were tons of bees buzzing all over these little flowers! They were all very busy collecting nectar and pollen to get ready for the coming winter.

Bright

This week as I have walked my boys to school, I have been checking out all the pretty flowers that are blooming locally. My flower beds are usually bare in the Fall, so I have essentially been "shopping" for flowers I would like to plant. I loved these bright little flowers the moment I saw them. They are called Firewagon flowers and the only drawback is that they are annuals, so I would have to replant them every year.

Teeny Tiny

Originally I planned to use my "bright" photo for this prompt. But then this afternoon we were planting some fall mums that we bought today and I spotted a teeny tiny ladybug crawling around on the stems. I had to run into the house and grab my camera so I could get a picture before he flew away!

  15. I love all your flower images, especially the last one with the Ladybug!! Give the firewagon a try. We call them Lantana here. I plant them every year because they are so tolerant of heat, drought, and me not always taking good care of them! I've had a least one plant come back for a repeat year!

  21. Such pretty floral this week. I love the bee, and the ladybug is my favorite. I'm glad I'm not the only one that runs inside before the photo op is gone when gardening. Another reason I wear garden gloves, is so I have clean hands to use it.

  27. I can almost smell all the flowers! and hear the bees! there is a connection between bees & flowers... he he... we've been covering that in "school" ... how so many things are connected... in positive and negative ways... beavers causing habitats for some animals by building dams that create ponds... yet... destroying wildlife habitat on land! =) anyway... you captured a lot of connections! lol! I was stumped by that one too... stretched it out of the box!

    so... I love the annual flowers that you want to plant... can't remember the name... Firesomethingoranother.... need to go back up and write it down! lovely!! =)
