Letter from an Angry Cycling Chick

Hooray! I finished my 70 mile bike ride Saturday in St. George, and boy was it windy! We are talking winds over 20 miles per hour. But in spite of the wind the ride went pretty well and I feel good today.

In honor of my bike ride, here is a letter I wrote a week or so ago after a cycling incident:
---------------------

Dear Trash-talking, truck-driving twit-
I was riding my bike down the road on my way home, minding my own business after having already gone 10 miles... Can I ask you why you feel the need to yell derogatory comments to me out your window?

At least I assume they were derogatory by the tone of your voice. My husband also assures me that he has never been the victim of any cat-calling or roadside yelling while riding his bike, so I will assume your comments were probably sexist as well.

Just FYI, I can't really hear you and I'm not interested in your opinions. You may not know this since you have probably never been on a bicycle going more than 5 miles per hour, but when I am cruising down the road at 20+ miles per hour there is a lot of wind noise. Add your noisy truck to that and I can't hear a word you are saying. So please don't yell at me, honk at me, or otherwise gesture in my direction unless you want to startle me and cause an accident.

So keep your voice, hands, arms, head and all other body parts inside your vehicle at all times. Kindly keep it in your pants, er... truck.

Sincerely
The Cycling Chick (who can ride circles around your fat, flat behind!)

  3. They should develop a monkey-poo flinging attachment for bicycles. It would include a homing device to zero in on any open windows...

  4. I don't understand why some people do that... what do they hope to achieve?
