Did you know that blogging makes me a better mom?
No really! Blogging changes the way that I look at the everyday happenings my life. In a way, it helps me to be a bit more objective about things and "look for the story" and find the humor in all those little incidents and accidents.
For example, you know those little mishaps that sometimes make you frustrated or upset? Like this:
When my son spilled his entire cup of milk all over the floor and made this HUGE splash, did I get upset about it? Not at all!
I instantly thought about the cliche of "crying over spilt milk" and I knew I needed to take a picture so I could blog about it. After all, it is a pretty impressive milk puddle, don't you think? So blogging made this instance less of a catastrophe and more of a funny little episode.
See! Blogging really does make me a less angry = happier = better mom!
p.s. Don't forget to enter my Wanchai Ferry giveaway to get some good Chinese food and a $25 Target Gift Card!
LOL! Another example of "Blogging saved the day!" :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this fact about blogging. It is the same way for me too. :)
ReplyDeleteRaising my hand. Yep, blogging -- and reading other bloggers -- has totally changed how I parent.
ReplyDeleteHoney Mommy,
ReplyDeleteI thought that we should finally meet (I'm Milk & Honey Mommy - Hi!).
You're right about blogging making you a better mommy. It is funny, but kind of sad. I will admit to allowing some drama to continue a little longer than need be to "capture the moment." Also, my tendency to get upset about something is curbed when I realize that this is a "blogable (Is that a word?) moment." I had one of those days today.
It is so so true. There have been many times were I was ready to scream out of frustration, instead I grab my camera and take a picture and all is well in the world :)
ReplyDeleteSo true. I always thinking in blog ;)
ReplyDeleteI totally and completely agree. Everytime I see a pic of a kid with Sharpie all over their legs (ahem, like mine) or lipstick on their eyelids (ahem, mine again), I think those same things. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's almost a artistic expression! =)
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree, blogging makes me a better mom!
Agreed. Just the other day when #3 ripped the handle offa the fridge I thought, before blogging I might have taken this and beaten him with it, now I'll just take a picture! Totally kidding about beating him I only do that when he touches my laptop;)
ReplyDeleteROFL! Blogging does this for me too...how funny.
ReplyDeleteAnd that is an impressive milk puddle!
That is ONE bloggable milk spill. I so see your point. It adds more humor to your day. Instead of getting frustrated you can vent in a humorous way. CHEERS to blogging and saving our mama sanity. :)
ReplyDeleteI have found this to be true. Lately instead of getting upset, I grab my camera and take a pic so I can blog about it
ReplyDeleteI love your explanation! Blogging really makes me stop and pay closer attention to everyday events too.
ReplyDeleteAlthough, I would still be a little upset about the spilled milk. :-)
I love it! You know you're a blogger when...you take pictures of spilled milk instead of crying over it! ;)
ReplyDeleteI think all of us "mommy bloggers" can so relate to your post. I know I look for the "story" in all my family's happenings. My oldest will even say, "Mom, you should put this on your blog." I wonder when she will start begging NOT to put things on my blog. lol
ReplyDeleteGreat photo and post! BTW...Have you ever read the book "It Looked Like Spilt Milk"? It's a classic and one you should definitely read to your kids.

Blogging not only influences how you look at things but how your children react to things. I can't tell you how many times my kids have asked me, "Are you gonna write about that on your blog?" Whoa. They like it now but how long will that last?
ReplyDeleteKids give us some of the best blogging shots don't they?
ReplyDeleteSo cute. Spilt milk is hardly the thing I get upset about...thankfully because there are a million other small things that really get my goat throughout the day. LOL I have just taught Tristan to clean it up himself LOL
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the kind of thing I would do!! When you're raising boys, everything gets spilt so I could be crying all day!! Great post!
ReplyDeleteI consider blogging my form of cheap (free) therapy and I feel that blogging has changed my perspective on the every day moments of life--the good and the bad. That's why my husband is my blog's biggest fan! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree! When my two grandchildren who are 3 months apart were both two I had a photo file I called "the round file"--cute for the trash can. When they would do something very two-ish and I felt like screaming at or paddling them I would run for the camera and take a picture of them covered with flour, or dish soap bubbles or any of the wonderful things they found to experience. Then I would put it in my round file and blog the story. It changes the whole perspective and I found I yelled less and enjoyed more. They were also more willing to help with the clean up because it didn't become a yell fest. loved your post today :)
