Eli hasn't been feeling well, which means he has been my cling-on for a few days. When he hasn't been stuck to me like glue, inevitably he is getting into things he shouldn't.
I had a lot to do this morning. After aerobics I had a half hour to get in shower and get back out the door with the boys. I took a quick shower and was relieved when I got out because the boys weren't yelling, screaming, or banging on anything.
"Maybe they behaved themselves for the three minutes I was in the shower!" I thought.
I should have known that silence is rarely a good thing. Next thing I know, Jonah comes in and says to me "Mommy, come see what Eli is doing!"
I found Eli sitting on the couch, surrounded by a pile of sidewalk chalk. And where there is chalk, there is chalk dust... everywhere! Of course he had to go to time out and then help clean up.
It wasn't until later that I thought, "Hey! I should have taken a picture of that!" I can't believe I didn't think of it. I guess in this case the Mommy superceded the blogger. :o)
On our way home later in the day I saw this sidewalk chalk heart on a house and it made me think of this morning.
I hope that even when I am frustrated with my boys, I can still show love for them. No matter what kind of trouble they get into, they are still my boys and I love them tons and bunches!
Happy Valentine's Day to you and those you love!

very sweet post...it truly is all about the L=O=V=E!!
ReplyDeleteYou have to love it when they remind you how much you love them without even realizing it. :)
ReplyDeleteWe had a sidewalk chalk incident at our house this week too! Evie covered herself in it because she wanted to look like a Carebear. Lovely.
I love these little surprises -- especially if they are washable. :)
ReplyDeletePrecious. I love to hear a mom that really wants to be a good mom. Good job!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice warm fuzzies :)
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to recognize and appreciate the love even when mommy is cranky ;) Happy V day to your crew!
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA! I just had a shower incident, too. I, however, must be a baaaaad mommy because I not only photographed it, I videoed it and put it on my blog.
ReplyDeletehangs head...
at least sidewalk chalk washes off easily. Got to love those quiet moments of craziness.
ReplyDeleteAw, that is very sweet.
ReplyDeleteYou should be relieved that it was chalk and not a sharpie, right?
ReplyDeleteLove the little reminders of love...even on another house.
It's only beginning...My kids are 10 (11 in two weeks) and 8 and they still do stuff like that! But I love them...even though they drive me nuts!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post. I think that kids realize that even when we are mad that we still love them.
ReplyDeleteYep...silence is dangerous. ;) What a sweet reminder, though.
ReplyDeleteAwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. It is beautiful. I just want to say that I SO remember going thru all of those things with Kaish! I thought it would never end. And suddenly, I open my eyes, and he is 10... It flies so quickly, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteThat was so sweet.
ReplyDeleteIt's a fine line, I tell ya. I found myself asking the same question many times. "Do I take a picture before I scold them? If I take a picture, does it look like I approve of their misconduct?"
Oh the pictures of messes I have taken! They ain't pretty! There was the scribbled all over my body artwork pic and the mascara drawn happy face on my bathroom counter picture. Then there was the larger than life marker happy face in the middle living room floor. Oh and I can't forget the poopy building blocks. Yuck. I think you get the picture... :-P
You can catch it next time ..... cause there will be a next time! :)
