The Buzz about the Boys

Isn't is amazing how different kids can be?

My boys definitely have similarities in their looks. Both of them are little blue-eyed blondies. Some people actually ask us if they are twins!

They may look alike, but they certainly have different temperaments! Jonah has always been cautious, even apprehensive sometimes. He does his best not to ever get hurt. He knows the rules and he follows them as best he can. He is a really good boy and smart as a tack.

Eli on the other hand is our little danger boy. He is adventuresome and not afraid of ANYTHING! He will do something slightly dangerous, get hurt, cry for two seconds... and then go do it again! He is also a bit more stubborn than Jonah and is constantly testing his boundaries.

So I guess I shouldn't be surprised at how different their reactions to getting their hair cut. Honey Daddy cuts the boys hair. He has been doing it since they were born. You would think by now Jonah would not react like this every. single. time.

In his defense, by the end of the haircut he had calmed down and was smiling. I know a lot of kids don't like getting their hair cut. You would think that since Eli is younger, he would be afraid of getting his hair cut too.

Not so!

It's no wonder you cannot treat all your children exactly the same! We definitely have to discipline Eli differently than Jonah, and different incentives work for each of them.

Regardless of their differences (and maybe even because of them), I love these little munchkins! They teach me so much every day... and they are adorable, don'tcha think?

  4. What cuties! My two girls are different like that too. My older daughter is very cautious and timid (in unfamiliar situations) while my second is a leap, then look kind of girl!

  6. oh honey, they are so cute. so so cute. Tristan isn't a fan of his hair being cut (and his hair cuts involve scissors - scary). We go to a really good place that's great with kids. Too bad we're moving...I hope our old hairstylist is good with kids too!

  8. Oh yes, precious!

My two boys are the same. The older one is more apprehensive and sensitive and the younger one is like "bring it on!" HA!

  14. I used to cut my kids' hair too. My boy absolutely hated it when I busted out my clippers. Sometimes, his fits would get so bad I had to wait until he was asleep! Thank goodness Toy Story came out on DVD...

  15. They are adorable. Noah hates to get his haircut too. It's a good thing that a lot of boys are wearing their hair a little longer so he can get away with less frequent haircuts. :)

  16. Adorable. My sisters and I were always called twins, but again that isn't the case in age or temperament. It is the differences in us that make us who we are..and in our kids it gives us the chance to learn to be better and love more!

  17. What cuties. All three of mine hit an age where they screamed during hair cuts. Glad that's past :D

  18. Yes, yes they are! And I am so glad to have Jonah in my class!

  19. They are adorable! My two are completely different but I always caulk it up to boy vs. girl. But I do think it's more that everyone is different. My daughter never minded hair cuts from day one. E-Man HATES them and cries so hard that he's made himself throw up before. Hence the longer hair that he wears...that and I think he's adorable in longer hair. ;)

  20. That's so true!! Not one type of discipline works for all kids. All mine are different too!! Some you can just give them that "look" and others you have to threaten!! LOL

  21. Such cuties!!

My son used to scream like this for years during haircuts. SO embarrassing! But he outgrew it, fianally. I agree, it's all about temperments.

  22. After five kids I am a firm believer that their main purpose in life is to prove how little I really know about parenting. Just when I think I've got one thing all figured out they throw something brand new at me.

    Cute pics!

  23. Isn't it hysterical when people ask if they are twins?! We get that a lot, especially since I have fun dressing them alike some days ;0) but with 20 months between them they couldn't be further from it!! (Not even near the same height!!)

  24. They are dolls! Oh boy do I feel this post! I've always cut my kids' hair and the worst one is Scott, he cries and wiggles and tries to get down in the middle of the cut! The others just sit there and take!

  25. I have similar pictures somewhere of my husband whipping out the clippers for W.W. too. However, after a few times of that I decided W.W. has inherited his grandmother's high forehead and needs just a wee bit more hair on top. ;) Cute pictures.
