WRONG!
Apparently my kids did not get the daylight savings time memo. So they have been waking up at the exact same time they did before the time change... except now it is an hour earlier! Oh joy!
So I go to bed an hour later each night, and then wake up an hour earlier at the behest of my little people. I would like to say that I am getting more done because I am now awake another hour a day, but unfortunately the only thing I am getting is more tired!
Apparently I am not the only one! Since nap time takes longer to arrive than it used to, little Eli is completely exhausted and practically begging to take a nap. Then he crashes HARD.
I was afraid that I would wake him up by taking his picture, but I don't think a marching band could have roused him!
Jonah has not taken naps since the beginning of the year, but once or twice lately he has been so tired that he took a nap too.
This particular afternoon we were trying to wake Jonah up, but all to no avail. Honey Daddy even lifted up his arm, only to have it flop back down on the covers without even a flinch from Jonah. Apparently my boys play hard and sleep even harder!
This afternoon I actually had an hour to myself when both the boys were sleeping... at the same time! The house was SO quiet... it was lovely.
So maybe Daylight Saving Time isn't all bad... but it still doesn't make much sense to me.
When told the reason for daylight savings time the old Indian said…
‘Only a white man would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket and sew it to the bottom of a blanket and have a longer blanket.’
The time change is so hard on the kids. But extra naps are always a bonus.
ReplyDeleteI remember that. It definitely takes a while for them to adjust!
ReplyDeleteMine are still not adjusted either!
ReplyDeleteIt has totally messed up our schedules, too. Though it is easier to convince them it's bed time when it gets dark so early!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah! My little ones are seriously having issues as well. I can't seem to get them to go to bed at a reasonable hour. UGH!
ReplyDeleteThe pics of your boys are just gorgeous!
Isn't it glorious when the kids are all asleep and you get some quiet time to yourself? :)
ReplyDeleteWe don't get DST here...
We have already had our time changes a couple of weeks ago. It is easier to get up in the mornings now in England because it is lighter but I don't like the darker evenings.
ReplyDeleteDon't children look peaceful when they are asleep? Like little angels that could do no wrong! LOL!
Nuts in May
I could have written this same post (except the part of the older child giving in for a nap) Glad you are getting to enjoy making up your hour in the middle of the day
ReplyDeleteAwww, sweet sleepy babies! I remember the time changes really screwing with me in elementary. I am not sure how I remember that, but I remember not liking them because they messed me up.
ReplyDelete5am wake up call here, EVERY MORNING SO FAR.
ReplyDeleteGRRRRR those darn whities! ;)
My little guy is having a hard time too... waking at six now instead of seven, but still going to bed at 8!!
ReplyDeleteAren't they so sweet when they sleep?
ReplyDeleteIn a few more years they will adjust more quickly.
Great photos! I never have good luck getting sleeping shots.
ReplyDeleteAnd your guys are so cute asleep!
This time change has hit me harder than my boys!!
ReplyDeleteHappy WW!
I don't know...it just seems like such an antiquaited thing.
ReplyDeletePrincess Nagger is adjusting nicely to the time change...me, not so much. Though I have an even harder time when that hour is rudely taken away in the Spring. ;)
ReplyDeleteLOVED the pictures!
Happy WW!
These are some really precious images!
ReplyDeleteForward of back DST makes me tired and sleepy. I slept a lot that day myself.
Love your Halloween pumpkins below and yes, great shots of those.
I scrolled down and saw the family - Toy Story - awesome!
Your kids are so gorgeous! don't you just love it when the house's finally quieten down and you spend your time watching the precious little one sleep? so peaceful and serene..till they wake up!
ReplyDeleteThis daylight savings has totally screwed up my sleep pattern this week as well. I'm going to bed at 8:30 and waking up at 3:30, every night. Argh!
ReplyDeleteI'm not used to the time change yet so I totally identify with your kids!
ReplyDeletegreat pictures. the time change has only been hard on me and the dogs. kiddo has adjusted just fine. happy WW and take care.
ReplyDeleteMy kids used to do the same thing when they were younger. The only problem was that my daughter never wanted to take naps.
ReplyDeleteBut your sons are adorable!
We don't participate in daylight savings time here in Arizona, so twice a year I have to make the time shift in my head...sometimes we're 3 hours behind, sometimes we're two. It's strange and I spend the better part of the year reminding people of that fact. What's even funnier (because I thought the story about cutting the blanket was so cute), is the only place in AZ that DOES participate in daylight savings time is on the Navajo Nation. Kind of crazy.
ReplyDeleteLove pictures of sleeping kids. So peaceful.
Darling photos! Daylight Savings really threw us off this week too. I work at an elemetary school and noticed that everyone was a little off this week. So many people that I talked to thought it was Friday when it was really Thursday. Weird!
