Eli has reached the age where he wants to feed himself. I don't have a problem with that, especially with finger foods. But sometimes it is hard to think of ways to cut all your meals into small pieces. Especially with things like mashed potatoes and yogurt.
Sometimes I can trick Eli into letting me feed him with a spoon. All I have to do is give him a spoon to play with while I sneak in spoonfuls of food. He is getting smart to my game though! Now he wants to scoop up the food by himself. I guess I should let him, even if he ends up looking like this:
Very pleased with himself and extremely messy. The only problem is that he still tends to fling food off his spoon accidentally on occasion, and then EVERYTHING gets messy.
Ah well, I suppose it's better to let him use a spoon and get messy rather than letting him do this:
Yep. That is sand oozing out of Eli's little mouth and all over his teeth. My boy likes to eat handfuls of sand when I am not looking. Apparently it tasted better than I think it does because I have caught him doing it multiple times!
See who else is feeling Wordful.
AWWW how cute is he!
ReplyDeleteI remember this stage. I still have stains from my daughter "feeding" herself.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the clean-up!

Haha, I know what you mean. Sometimes feeding them is just a better way.
ReplyDeleteThen again, I don't want to be spoon feeding them at age 5 either. And plus, look at all the cool photos you can get.
Ahhh... the quote, "It was the best of the times, it was the worst of times..." comes to mind! I have to say, sand flowing out of a little mouth has never looked to cute, tho!!!
ReplyDeletegot to sample everything momma!
ReplyDeleteYummy. Sand. He looks so happy to have a mouthful of sand. :)
ReplyDeleteMy little guy was this way. I had to cut everything up in little pieces because he would NOT let me spoon feed him!
ReplyDeleteHe's such a cutie. Although I have to disagree with him on the sand, not so yummy! ; )
LOL, he really does look proud!
ReplyDeleteoh you just gotta love that independence. and what is it with sand. I kinda want to try it myself just to see why kids like it so much but then again its sand.

ReplyDeleteMessy definitely goes hand-in-hand with independence!
