November was unusually warm around here. I was enjoying the warmth so much, that when the cold finally came it has been a bit of a shock to my system!
Right now our overnight lows are in the low 20's, and during the day we make it to the mid 40's if we are lucky. It makes me shiver just to think about it! This is sweater weather for sure.
Just before noon today I went on a short walk with Jonah. You guessed it... we had to go see the construction equipment again! It was too cold to stay and watch for very long. Even Jonah told me, "Mommy, I'm cold."
As we walked home we noticed some cold crunchy leaves by the wayside. They caught my eye, so I snapped a photo.
I couldn't believe they still had frost on them even though it was almost noon!
The frosty leaves reminded me of the beautiful evergreen trees that we saw on our way home from Wyoming a few weeks ago. A light dusting of snow had fallen and it made everything look sparkly and beautiful.
Honey Daddy let me hop out of the car to snap a few quick photos. It seems that we brought the cold from Wyoming back home with us. We still don't have any snow, but the weather forecasters say that we will have five to six winter storms before Christmas. So snow is definitely in our future!
On a warmer note, after our walks I share some hot chocolate with the boys. I love warm, melty hot chocolate... especially mint. Nothing warms me up on the inside more than a nice mug of hot chocolate! I take that back... there are a few things that do more to give me a nice, warm fuzzy feeling on the inside. Here are two of them.
I love the shot of your boys - adorable - they are so darn cute!! I feel you on the cold, it's freezing here and we have over a foot of snow!! But the kids love it and are burning all their energy playing in it - so it's good for now!
ReplyDeleteAwe! This is such a sweet post. Very pretty tree pictures and your kiddos are adorable! :)
ReplyDeleteOoooh! Those leaves made me chilly!
ReplyDeleteLove the new layout!
ReplyDeleteThat picture of the leaves is gorgeous!
It's way too cold here too, but I would rather have some snow with it, than just cold.
c'mon snow!
Love the story you told with these pictures. perfectly done. And brr those pictures just make you feel cold. Adorable little guys. :)
ReplyDeleteI can deal with the cold. I love wearing my sweatshirts and hoodies and sweaters...I don't like it when the roads get icy. That bugs me when I can't go out when I want. Really bugs me. We have our first snow watch coming for this weekend...and I have places to go!!
ReplyDeleteBaby it's cold outside here, too. Here's to a long winter, inside.... :-)
ReplyDeleteDon't hate me...it was 65 today! Of course, it rained all day, but we went to school without jackets! I miss snow, though. great pics!
ReplyDeleteIt's coming! Until after Christmas I won't complain about the snow.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful shots. I love that one of the leaves.
kids getting along and smiling at each other make me smile and feel all warm inside too! great pictures!
ReplyDeleteI love the look of snow, don't get to much of it where I live. I have lived in chicago, and other places where it really snows.
ReplyDeleteI miss the mornings when you wake up and look at the snow that has fallen overnight, and it is perfect, before people have walked in it, just a blanket of shimmering snow!
Precious picture (of the boys, I mean, lol!) Yesterday we drove by a CAT on our way home and I thought about your little boy. My boy (20) says CAT stands for Catapillar (or however you spell it). Don't know if that's so or not but he thinks it is.
ReplyDeleteAbout your comment on my blog: Yeah, they're definitely alike, lol!
Your pictures are always so amazing! Sorry it's so cold....
ReplyDeleteYour sons are so stinkin' cute, I wish my hair was naturally that blonde, I would save a lot of money...

It's really cold here too. It hasn't even made it to 30 degrees here yet today. Pretty sure it probably won't but you never know. It's funny that he's so fascinated with the big trucks and machinery.
ReplyDeleteThey are just adorable!!!
ReplyDeleteThose are some beautiful wintry shots :) We adore hot chocolate when it looks like that outside here too!
Cute boys! Keep posting the adventures of the Nativity. Don't you just wonder what really goes on in their little heads?! I know I do with my boys even now that they are older.
ReplyDeleteIt's much colder where I am now some days compared to where I was. Biting wind and chill. Still, a hot cup of coffee or hot chocolate tastes that much better when you are warming your hands on the mug. :)
