When the Toy Chest Explodes... Stand Up!

On Friday I posted about how my boys are starting to play together. I love it because they actually entertain each other for a while and I can actually get stuff done! Some of you tried to warn me that they were plotting against me in their little "boys club". I brushed it off thinking, "what could they possibly do?".

The other evening I was enjoying some time without the boys at my feet... it sounded like they were having a great time together in Jonah's room. Then I went to tell them that it was time to get in their pajamas. When I looked into the room I couldn't believe my eyes! It seems that every toy storage bin had exploded out into the room. I don't even know how my little guys could MOVE around in there. Here is what it looked like after we had started to clean up, and you can't even see the rest of the mess on the edges of the room!

Some of you may be saying, "Honey Mommy... that's not bad at all! You should see MY child's room!". In my defense, we have been trying to teach Jonah to play with a toy and then put it away. He is actually pretty good about it, so most of the time his room is pretty clean. However, I am sure that the more children we have, the bigger the messes will get.

I guess cleaning up after the boys play together will become a regular occurrence... but I don't mind it in exchange for a little peace and productivity.

In more exciting news for the day, look what Eli did today!

I was sorting laundry and looked over just in time to see Eli pull himself up to a stand. Luckily I had my camera nearby and he didn't quite know what to do from there. Isn't he a cutie? I can't believe he is already standing up at eight months old!

  1. That's about when my daughter started pulling up on things and she was walking at 10 months. I'm so happy my son took his good ole time. ;)

And the messes get worse. ;) E-Man's new love is to dump. Drives me batty. *L*

  2. Unfortunately, my house looks like that every day! I pick it up and the kids help clean--but it just comes right back again...

Congrats to your little guy for standing--8 months? That's early!!

  3. Hoooray on the milestone!! Jack is about the same age as Eli and has just started pulling up too - isn't it so fun to watch them blossom and develop?!

  4. That's when both my kiddos pulled themselves up. And it was just too quick. I still wish they would just sit!

I love looking at pics of your little guys. With their fuzzy blonde hair and blue eyes...sigh. So cute.

  5. Our house looks like the toybox exploded at all times...it's horrible. We try and keep most of the toys upstairs but the girls have such a knack for dragging it back down. I try to get them involved in cleaning up every night before bedtime.
And look at Eli stand...too cute!

  7. My boys are interacting much more too! They are a little over 2 years a part. They got into they're first brawl the other day and both ended up crying!

I'm sure it's just the first of many for both of our families! :)

  8. Awwwwwwwwww!!!!!!! He's so cute!!!!!!!
Yeah, I'm a neat freak and enjoy the "play with a toy and put it back" rule too! What that room looks like is what I walk into at work (nanny job) every Monday bc the parents let the kids rule the house all weekend....

  9. I have known several people with children who started walking at that age, my dad walked at 9 months and his older brother at 8 months so its not impossible.

I loved the title of your post about the toy chest exploding, reminds me of days being younger and playing with my brother.

  19. WTG Eli! He is such a cutie! My whole house is a disaster during the day just because Sweet Pea is a little tornado. We do end our day by cleaning up the mess and she is learning how to help! Then we start all over again in the morning!

  25. Sorry, you either need a lot more toys or messier boys to even compete with the mess my ONE son can make! I hope you had fun cleaning up.
